About

Engineering with product judgment, clean execution, and delivery discipline.

I prefer practical, well-shaped systems over inflated claims. The goal is simple: make the product stronger, make the team faster, and keep the implementation maintainable.

I am a full-stack engineer based in Addis Ababa, building web and mobile products and the backend services behind them. My strongest work sits at the intersection of product quality, implementation discipline, and dependable delivery.

At Evangadi I work across three platforms for students, tutors, parents, and internal teams. I am the primary author of Evangadi Discussion, the React Native app, including its session security, push notifications, and CIRCLE accountability groups. On Tutoring I built the first Gemini integration, which turns prompt templates into structured learning materials. On Academy I built backend modules, the support-ticket system, and more than 30 Jest test files.

I enjoy teams that value clarity, ownership, and thoughtful execution, and I work alongside AI coding agents every day. I am especially effective when a product needs someone who can move between interface polish, backend logic, and deployment concerns without losing the user experience in the process.

A React Native and Expo app for iOS and Android that keeps Evangadi students connected through realtime discussion, push notifications, and accountability groups. I wrote about 75% of the app and built the API work behind it on the Node.js backend.

  • Built the auth and session foundation across client and API: SecureStore token storage, refresh-token rotation with token-family reuse detection and durable revocation, and a single-use, 45-second handoff code that moves a signed-in web user into the app.
  • Delivered push notifications end to end: an Expo push service with batched sends and invalid-token deactivation, per-user preferences, suppression for the open chat room, token cleanup when a session ends, and unread badges.
  • Shipped CIRCLE, an accountability-groups feature, across API and app: members, expiring invitations, commitments with drag-to-reorder tasks, and realtime unread counts.
  • Built the realtime chat list over Socket.IO with a polling fallback and persisted TanStack Query caching, plus policy consent, account deletion, and support tickets with photo attachments.

An AI-assisted tutoring platform that connects students, parents, tutors, and coordinators through structured academic workflows. I built its first LLM integration, which uses Google Gemini to generate session materials.

  • Built the platform’s first LLM integration: a reusable Gemini client with token-usage capture and JSON extraction, and a generation API that fills stored prompt templates and records the prompt used for each AI-generated session material. The team later extended it to practice questions and assessments.
  • Built the React page tutors use to generate session materials and practice questions.
  • Delivered role-based APIs for parents, students, tutors, and coordinators: authentication, parent PINs, admin login-as, tutor onboarding and application review, weekly curriculum, and parent progress reports.

A React and Node.js learning platform for multi-batch course delivery, guided student progression, and internal academy operations. I built backend modules across the platform, the support-ticket system, and React features for students and staff.

  • Built backend modules across the platform: login and access/refresh tokens, batch, group, and class-topic management, assignment submissions and grading, curriculum import, report cards, and attendance.
  • Built the support-ticket system end to end: an Express API with image validation and S3 signed URLs, and a React admin page with filtering, pagination, and status management.
  • Added 30+ Jest test files covering auth, sessions, submissions, support tickets, and notifications, and documented endpoints in Swagger.
  • Built React features including the curriculum import UI, an embedded viewer for course materials, assessment review, and an Open in App deep link.
